This Privacy Policy explains how Swatchfy: Variant Image Swatch ("Swatchfy", "we", "us") collects, uses and discloses information when you install and use our Shopify app.
If you have any question about this policy, contact us at If you have any question about this policy, contact us at [email protected].
Store information. When you install Swatchfy, Shopify grants us access to information about your store. We receive and store your store domain, the email address on your Shopify account, your store's Shopify plan, and basic store settings such as currency and locale. We use this to identify your store, run the app, apply your subscription plan and contact you about the service.
Product information. To let you assign images to variants, we read your products, variants, product options and product media through the Shopify Admin API. We store the identifiers of the images you assign, together with the option name and option value they belong to (for example, Color / Coral → image IDs 1, 2, 3). We do not copy or host your image files; they stay in your Shopify account and are served by Shopify.
App settings. We store the configuration you create inside the app: which products are configured, your swatch definitions, swatch styling and your app settings.
Metaobjects in your own store. Swatchfy also writes a copy of your variant image maps and swatch definitions into metaobjects inside your own Shopify store. That copy belongs to you and remains under your control in Shopify.
Technical information. Our hosting provider processes standard request metadata, including IP addresses and request timestamps, for security, abuse prevention and error diagnosis. This is ordinary server logging and is not used to profile individuals.
We want to be explicit about this, because many Shopify apps do collect the following and we do not:
We do not access, store or process your customers' personal information — no names, email addresses, shipping addresses, phone numbers or account details.
We do not access your orders, carts, checkouts or payment information.
We do not set cookies on your storefront, and we do not use browser fingerprinting or any cross-site tracking.
We do not create identifiers for individual storefront visitors, and we do not track them across sessions, pages or websites.
We do not sell, rent or trade any information to third parties.
When a shopper views a product page on a store that uses Swatchfy, their browser requests the display configuration for that product from our servers through Shopify's app proxy. That request returns your settings — it does not send us anything about the shopper.
The app may also report anonymous interaction events containing only the event type, the product identifier and the option value involved (for example, "swatch clicked, product 12345, Coral"). These events are written to our application logs for diagnostics and aggregate usage understanding. They contain no visitor identifier of any kind, are not stored in a database, are not linked to any individual, and are not used for advertising.
We use the information described in Section 1 to:
provide, operate and maintain the app;
apply the limits and features of your subscription plan;
respond to your support requests;
diagnose errors, prevent abuse and keep the service secure;
notify you about material changes to the app or this policy.
We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not send marketing email unless you have separately opted in.
We rely on a small number of processors to run the service:
Shopify Inc. — hosts your store data and provides the APIs the app depends on.
Gadget (Gadget Software Inc.) — hosts the app's backend, database and logs.
These providers process information solely on our instructions and for the purposes described above.
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect the information we hold, including encrypted connections and access controls, and we limit access to what is required to operate and support the app. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
We retain your store information and app configuration for as long as the app is installed on your store.
When you uninstall Swatchfy, we stop processing your data. When Shopify sends us the shop/redact request that follows an uninstall, we delete the store information and app configuration we hold for your store.
The metaobjects Swatchfy created inside your own Shopify store are your data and remain in your store after uninstall. You can delete them yourself at any time.
Server logs, which may contain IP addresses and the anonymous events described in Section 3, are retained for a limited period for security and diagnostic purposes and are then discarded.
You may request deletion of your data at any time by emailing [email protected]. Note that deleting your configuration will remove your variant image assignments and swatch settings.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete the personal information we hold about you, to object to or restrict our processing of it, and to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
Because we do not process your customers' personal information, requests relating to your shoppers should be directed to Shopify.
To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected]. We will respond within the period required by applicable law.
We support Shopify's mandatory data privacy requests — customers/data_request, customers/redact and shop/redact. As we hold no customer data, customer-related requests are answered by confirming that no such data exists on our systems.
Your information may be processed on servers located outside your country of residence. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers.
Swatchfy is a business tool intended for merchants. It is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.
Our app and help centre may link to third-party websites, including Shopify documentation and video tutorials. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those sites, and we encourage you to read their privacy policies.
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes to the app or to legal requirements. When we make a material change we will update the effective date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you inside the app.
